We Mentors Need Our Own Mentors Too!
Why Does Anyone Need A Mentor?
Given that Vinden and I are coaches and mentors, it may seem strange that we would consider hiring our own mentor, but it seems pretty straightforward to us:
Key Tip: We Never Assume That We Know It All! We freely acknowledge That We Don’t!
The instant that you do feel you are expert at everything, you have made a crucial mistake error. You’ll get into work overload, try to learn too many non-core skills, and put off the time when you get the pay-off from all your hard work. Outsource, get expert guidance and help, seek Joint Venture (JV) partners and build a team of resources.
As a certified Work-Life Balance consultant, I do try to follow my own advice. I’m not saying it always works, but I’m having a go!
I first encountered Jonathan Jay when training to be a coach and he was the founder and then MD of The Coaching Academy, the world’s biggest coach training school.
He later sold this for many millions and one of our JV partners, Bev James, is now MD.
(Side-note: Bev James is a co-author in our latest book, launching on Amazon in December and Jonathan Jay has kindly agreed to write the foreword!
Look out for the launch of ‘Ultimate Life Lessons‘.)
Our thinking was that, if he can achieve that, he must know his stuff!
Jonathan Jay’s current venture is SuccessTrack and NABO, the National Association of Business Owners, where he and his pool of mentors help entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.
So, this year, we’ve signed up with him to accelerate the growth of our coaching, training and personal development Quantum Coaching and Consulting Group.
Here’s to a really challenging but hugely rewarding 2010 & 2011!
